Kara Walker

Kara Walker, born 26/11/1969 is an African American artist who does her designs on exploring race, sex and violence. Her work is best known of her black paper silhouettes, drawing and painting on walls.

In her designs she shows the history of how the people in Africa were attempted to lose their power away and got enslaved from others. The characters in her designs show the human behaviours like struggles, physical, emotions, racial and nudity.

the art movement she used in her designs is art nouveau because her black paper silhouettes has shapes, curvy and swirly lines.
This image is about a woman turning the winding key on mans to allow him to play the guitar while the other man jumps for joy with the trumpet in the jungle.

I didn’t like some of her designs because they are so of weird. But the techniques in her designs using black paper silhouettes, drawing and painting are really good because these techniques can teach me to create my own design.
